Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are Ministry of Health community health staff found across Kenya. They visit families of children with disabilities, find the barriers at home, school and the water point, and link each child to NCPWD registration, APDK assessment, assistive devices and therapy, the county social services office and the nearest sub-county hospital. Families anywhere in Kenya can ask us how to reach their local CHP and these services. In our own programme, ten CHPs and their two supervisors do specific home-monitoring visits and collect programme data in BogoBogo, Jomvu, Mombasa County. There we link families to the Mombasa County Department of Social Services (DSS), Port Reitz Sub-County Hospital and the Jomvu Disability Network. These links continue after the programme period. How it works: Guidance and referral for families anywhere in Kenya. Programme home-monitoring visits in BogoBogo, Jomvu. Cost: Free (our support). Fees charged by third parties, such as transport or medical assessment, are paid by the family or a sponsor.
Completely FreeNo registration or session fees. No hidden costs.
